Stansted Airport prepare for summer 2009 with the announcement of new routes.
Pakistan International Airlines restarted their popular links to Lahore and Islamabad, with flights including a connection via Dubai; AirAsia X recently launched the world's longest low-cost long haul flight to Kuala Lumpur, with onward connections to Australia; and Aurigny re-connects with Jersey with £30 flights set to operate from May.
Nick Barton, commercial and development director at BAA Stansted, said: "As we move into the summer schedules, and welcome back popular connections to destinations such as Croatia and St Tropez in France, we're also looking forward to welcoming these new and exciting routes onto our summer network here at Stansted. Great news for anyone wanting to lift themselves out of the credit crunch blues and take advantage of fantastic flights on offer.
"The cultural and business opportunities associated will all the new direct links to Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Pakistan and Jersey speak volumes in themselves.
"Stansted is proud to offer more scheduled connections across Europe than any other any other airport in the world, and passengers frequently tell us they want to see us expand our networks even further, so we're delighted to be fulfilling those wishes with the recent arrival of AirAsia X, welcome return of PIA and a new connection from Aurigny.
"These are challenging times for all industries, ours included, but the development of all these new services showcases the confidence airlines have in the ability of Stansted to ride through the storm and maintain and develop flight connections in line with the demand that is clearly still out there in the market."
