Northern Lights 'closer to Stansted'
Stansted airport has claimed that Norwegian attractions such as the Northern Lights will be closer to passengers with the launch of a new service this week.
Attractions such as the Northern Lights in Norway will be more accessible for Stansted passengers with the launch of new services to the country, the airport has claimed.
Low-fares airline Norwegian will launch the first direct flights between Stansted and the Arctic location of Tromso this weekend.
Tromso lies at a latitude of nearly 70 degrees north in the upper reaches of Norway and is know as 'the Paris of the north', according to BAA Stansted.
It is home to an Arctic cathedral and offers impressive landscape views as well as activities such as husky-dog sledging and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
Nick Barton, business development and planning director at Stansted, said: "Tromso is a lively and popular gateway for arctic adventure that plays host to the Northern Lights phenomena by winter and midnight sun by summer.
"We were thrilled when Norwegian confirmed the launch of a direct connection from the UK out of Stansted."
Norwegian also offers services from Stansted to Bergen, Trondheim and Norway's capital of Oslo.
