Stansted gains link to Cape Verde
Stansted airport will boast a new connection to the Cape Verde islands this winter.
Cape Verde Airlines is to begin flying from Stansted airport to the islands of Sal and Santiago this winter.
The carrier will fly to Praia on Santiago once a week on Mondays and serve the main international airport on Sal every Thursday.
A 160-seat Boeing 757 aircraft will be used for these flights to the Cape Verde island group.
Cape Verde Airlines, also known as TACV, has arranged its timetable to facilitate onward connections to Fortaleza in Brazil.
Neil Silvester, the carrier's UK sales and marketing manager, said: "The recent rapid growth in UK tourism arrivals to the Cape Verde Islands has meant additional airlift has been essential to keep up with this demand.
"A growing number of British second-home owners on this Atlantic archipelago have also fuelled the need for two direct flights a week with TACV."
The Cape Verde republic is located off the coast of north-west African countries Senegal and Mauritania.
