Aberdeen Airport is increasing parking capacity

An air of celebration was widespread around Aberdeen Airport this week, as the terminal's new parking deck reached its highest point.

The £5 million construction is due to open in September to provide an additional 500 short-stay car parking spaces over two extras floors in front of the terminal building. Work is progressing apace, with contractors estimating the completion of the work to take one quarter of the standard timescale for such a project.

Managing director of Aberdeen Airport, Kevin Brown, said: "A lot of planning went on behind the scenes in advance of work starting on-site to make sure we could get this completed as soon as possible. Some parts of it are being constructed off-site and then lifted into position here, and there is also a huge team working on the project helping keep it to schedule.

"Between this and the recent compliments we received on the efficiency and speed of our runway resurfacing works, I think it says a lot about our relationships and the professionalism of our contracting partners."
