Twilight check in recommended at Gatwick

For families travelling with kids this summer holiday, Virgin Atlantic has come up with some tips to give them a stress free start to their holiday.

The airline says that families travelling from Gatwick airport can really benefit from using the twilight check in service. Using the service means they can check in themselves and their baggage the afternoon before their flight, so they don’t have to rush on the day of travel. By booking an airport hotel they can also avoid the stress of a last minute dash to the airport.

For families taking a summer holiday at Disney in Florida, Virgin Atlantic has a check in facility at the theme park so that on departure day they can check in and enjoy more time at the park.

And for anyone lucky enough to be going to the Caribbean this summer, the airline has a ‘Check in and chill out’ service which means people can check in for their flight when checking out of their hotel.

Pre-booking a children’s meal will ensure that kids get plain food designed to appeal to their tastes, says Virgin. All children on Virgin flights are give Kids packs to keep them entertained which include a watch, book, baseball cap and sweets.

This summer holiday Virgin has a choice of family films including ‘Kung Fu Panda’, ‘Nim’s Island’ and ‘Spiderwick Chronicles’, plus dedicated TV channels for kids with programmes such as Shaun The Sheep, In the Night Garden and Wonderpets.

For passengers travelling with babies, Virgin recommends booking a sky cot. The airline also offers infant care chairs, which are child safety seats designed for airline use and pioneered by Virgin.
