After only three years offering cruises in Europe, Carnival has won 9 best of cruising awards in a new Fodor’s guide.

Fodor’s Complete Guide to European Cruises provides overviews of all major cruise lines operating in Europe, as well as port of call information and travel tips.

In the latest edition, Carnival Cruise Lines has been honoured with more than twice as many awards as any other cruise line. The awards it garnered are: Best cruise line for families, Best regular cabins, Best beds, Best regular dining room cuisine, Best speciality restaurants, Best entertainment at sea, Best sports and fitness centres, Best shops on board, and Best fun and funky activities.

“Considering that Carnival has been sailing in Europe for just three years, it is indeed an honour to be named ‘Best of Cruising’ by Fodor’s in so many different categories,” says Carnival executive vice president of marketing and guest experience, Ruben Rodriguez.

“We pride ourselves on providing our guests with fun, high quality vacations – regardless of where our ‘Fun Ships’ are sailing – and this recognition is a wonderful validation of our efforts,” Rodriguez adds.

For the first time Carnival is deploying two cruise ships in Europe this year. The cruise line’s newest and largest cruise ship, Carnival Splendor, is launching Carnival’s first 12 day Northern Europe cruise programme.

And Carnival Freedom will operate Mediterranean cruises, as well as cruises around Greece and Turkey. Carnival has already announced it will continue to operate two ships in Europe in 2009 as the cruising market in Europe continues to grow.
