Scotland to Sydney in a flash

Fancy heading Down Under for some winter-sun? Emirates is to introduce a new daily service from Dubai to Sydney, a move that will enable travellers from Glasgow to reach the Australian city in under 24 hours.

From December 1, 2009, the new route from the award-winning airline will come into operation, departing just 75 minutes after arrival of the Glasgow to Dubai service. This quick connection reduces the total flight duration from Glasgow to Sydney from over 30 hours to just 22 hours, 25 minutes.

Laurie Berryman, Emirates' manager UK North, said: "Australia is a key destination for both business and leisure passengers travelling with us from Scotland, and our new Sydney service makes flying Down Under quicker than ever before."
