Virgin cabin crew strike in January

Virgin Atlantic cabin crew will take strike action in January over a pay dispute leading to flight cancellations to New York, Chicago, Boston and Nairobi.

The cabin crew are members of the Unite union and have rejected a two year deal based on a 4.8% increase in the first year and RPI in the second year.

"Virgin's cabin crew have voted for strike action for the first time in the airline's history. They've not taken this decision lightly, they are a world class crew who've been undervalued for too long. They are seeking a long term solution to pay which recognises their loyalty and professionalism," says Unite National Officer, Brian Boyd.

The following Virgin flights have been cancelled:

9 January

outbound flight VS25 from Heathrow to New York JFK

return flights VS39/40 between Heathrow and Chicago

return flights VS11/12 between Heathrow and Boston
