East Midlands airport roadworks

If you are travelling to or from East Midlands airport, there are major roadworks taking place near the airport, starting on 15th January. The roadworks are expected to take 9 weeks to complete, and will take place between 9pm and 6am the following morning, to avoid delays and disruption for drivers.

Important resurfacing work will take place at the M1 junction near Kegworth and on the carriageway going south to Junction 23A. Roads which connect to the roundabout will be closed to make sure road workers and drivers are kept as safe as possible. The closures will take place one at a time, working around the roundabout for a maximum of 2-3 overnight periods for each closure.

During road closures, traffic approaching the roundabout on that road will be diverted, either to local roads or the M1 between junctions 23 and 25. During the daytime, the junction will be fully reopened.

If you are flying from East Midlands airport between 15th January and 12th March, then please be aware there may be delays, particularly if you are driving between 9pm and 6am when the roadworks will be taking place. Avoid the delays by spending the night before you fly before in an airport hotel and book airport parking with us for excellent prices.
