UK composer and theatrical producer Andrew Lloyd Webber has long been recognised throughout the UK and Europe for his contribution to theatrical art and musical composition, it is now the turn of the U.S.A to commend his creative genius.
Lloyd Webber will receive a Kennedy Center Honour on the 1st December presented by U.S Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, joining him in the honour of receiving such a prestiguous award are Dolly Parton, Steven Spielberg, Smokey Robinson and conductor Zubin Mehta. These awards are presented to figures who have excelled in contributing to American culture and Lloyd Webber has certainly done that. Phantom of the Opera took Broadway by storm, surpassing all expectations and becoming a box office hit overnight. In a statement the Kennedy Center Chairman explained their decision to honour Lloyd Webber, "Andrew Lloyd Webber has led a seismic change in our musical theatre becoming the most popular theatre composer in the world".
Andrew Lloyd Webber is enjoying success all over the world and is currently preparing to open his latest West End show The Sound of Music.
