After a dramatic final and public phone vote, the winner of the BBC's Any Dream Will Do has been chosen - 25 year old Lee Mead will now play Joseph in the West End revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Any Dream Will Do hit the television screens on March 31st hosted by Graham Norton. Continually drawing in millions of viewers as the potential Josephs were voted off, Saturday nights final saw Lee compete with Keith and Lewis for the coveted Technicolor Dreamcoat and the lead in the upcoming Andrew Lloyd Webber helmed production at the Adelphi Theatre.
Lee Mead's first professional job was playing Pharaoh and Brother Levi in the Joseph touring production, playing 12 shows a week. Mead gained a small amount of West End experience during his time in the production - he filled in for the Pharaoh twice out of the 700 shows. Meads other theatre experience includes The Phantom of the Opera where he understudied the role of Raoul, Miss Saigon, understudying Chris and Tommy.
Mead told Any Dream Will Do presenter Graham Norton, "I'm going to go out there and give you a hell of a show." Further cast members for the West End production will include Preeya Kalidas as Narrator, Dean Collinson as Pharaoh, and Stephen Tate as Jacob/Potiphar/Guru.
