New cast for Avenue Q

Hilarious and award winning, the West End production of Avenue Q has announced a major cast change effective from 3 December 2007.

The new cast will be headed by Daniel Boys and Rebecca Lock as original cast members Julie Atherton, Jon Robyns, Simon Lipkin and Sion Lloyd leave the show after 18 months of performances. Boys - finalist on Any Dream Will Do - will play the roles of Princeton and Rod. Boys recently appeared on the London stage in I Love You Because along with tours of Rent, Sunset Boulevard and The War Of The Worlds. Rebecca Lock will be taking on the roles of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut having previously understudied the title role in Mary Poppins along with roles in Side By Side By Sondheim, Martin Guerre and Cats.

New cast members also include Christopher Fry as Brian and Mark Goldthorp as Trekkie Monster and Nicky. Mary Doherty and Delroy Atkinson continue in their roles as Mrs Thistletwat / Bad Idea Bear and Gary Coleman respectively. Casting to replace Jennifer Tanarez as Christmas Eve will be announced shortly. Keep checking back for details.

Currently playing at the Noël Coward theatre, the hilarious Avenue Q is an unusual and comedic alliance of puppets and humans. Whilst it is certainly not one for the whole family, Avenue Q is a guaranteed night of hilarity and amusement. With a porn-addicted puppet called Trekkie Monster and songs such as "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist," "If You Were Gay" and "I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today," leaves audiences, as producer Cameron Mackintosh puts it, "laughing their heads off at what is a truly original musical."
