Having opened at the Novello Theatre in June, The Drowsy Chaperone has posted closure notices for August 4th, after a run of only 3 months.
A musical unlike any other The Drowsy Chaperone is billed as a musical within a comedy. This London production tells the story of a pampered starlet who decides she wants to give up her fame and show business to get married. The show begins with a man in a chair playing the cast recording of his favourite musical on his turntable. As the first notes begin to fill the air the musical bursts into life around him with characters emerging from every area of his room.
The West End show currently stars Steve Pemberton as Man In Chair along with the first lady of British musical theatre Elaine Paige. Other cast members include Summer Strallen as Janet van de Graaff, Nikolas Grace as Underling, Selina Chilton as Kitty, Enyonam Gbesmete as Trix, Cameron Jack as Gangster 2, John Partridge as Robert Martin, Adam Stafford as Gangster 1, Joseph Alessi as Aldolpho, Nick Holder as Feldzeig, Sean Kingsley as George and Anne Rogers as Tottendale.
With early closure attributed to poor ticket sales, the cast of this West End show will take their final bow on August 4th. At Holiday Extras we'll be offering tickets for a Drowsy Chaperone theatre break until 27th July 2007. Don't miss out, book your tickets for this production while you still can.
