Lord of the Rings Takes Its Bow

The Middle Earth musical The Lord of the Rings has posted closure notices at the Drury Theatre. The hobbits, elves, wizards, ors, ents and magical cast will take their final bow on July 19th after 492 performances.

The Middle Earth epic musical The Lord of the Rings opened at the Drury Theatre on May 9th. The theatre was closed for more than four months as the £1million stage was built complete the 17 pneumatic lifts and 3 turntables. The production features over 70 actors, singers and musicians with an array of props that includes more than 500 pieces of armour and 10ft stilts for the actors playing ents.

This epic stage adaptation of J. R. R Tolkien's trilogy stars Laura Michelle Kelly as Galadriel, Malcolm Storry as Gandalf, Jerome Pradon as Aragorn, Steven Miller as Boromir, Sévan Stephan as Gimli, and Rosalie Craig as Arwen. Members of the original Toronto cast James Loye, Peter Howe and Michael Therriault reprise their roles of Frodo, Sam and Gollom along with Owen Sharpe as Pippin.

Show producer Kevin Wallace stated: "The show's creative team has proven just how enchanting, exhilarating and powerfully entertaining The Lord of The Rings can be live on stage. We will continue to bring this incredible theatrical event to audiences in London until 19 July."
