The record breaking show The Mousetrap has been playing in London's West End since 1952 and has now announced an extension that will see it run until 3rd May 2008.

Originally written as a short radio play to honour Queen Mary's 80th birthday, The Mousetrap opened with a cast that included a young Richard Attenborough. Since then it has been seen by over 10 million people, with over 20,000 West End performances with more than 336 actors and actresses treading the boards in this classic mystery play. It has been translated into 24 languages and performed in 44 countries, it become Canada's longest running play, running for 26 years.

Written by Agatha Christie, the solution to the play is a close guarded secret. After each performance a member of the cast asks the audience to keep the secret to themselves so that nobody outside of the theatre learns the identity of the killer. Unusually for an Agatha Christie story, The Mousetrap has yet to be published in book form and, while the film rights were sold in 1956, the terms of the play's contract stipulate that no movie adaptation can be made until the play's West End run has been finished for at least 6 months.

The play follows Agatha Christie's legendary style: a group of guests at a country hotel, cut off by snow, the arrival of a detective, a grisly murder takes place meaning one of the guests is a murderer. But who? The only way to find out is to be in the audience as the mystery unfolds. For great seats at an unbelievably low price book your tickets for The Mousetrap today and take a Holiday Extras theatre break that delivers an evening in the West End you won't forget.
