Just a week before the Olivier Awards are held, the winners of this years Whatsonstage Theatregoer's Choice Awards have been announced. The hit West End musical Wicked scooped a whopping 4 awards including Best New Musical and Best Actress In A Musical for Idina Menzel. The hit production scooped more than half the votes for Best New Musical. Closely behind, The Sound of Music won 3 awards including Best Musical Revival and Newcomer of the Year for Connie Fisher.
Also flying the musical flag, Spamalot picked up 2 awards including Best Actor In A Musical for Tim Curry. Avenue Q and Guys and Dolls were amongst the other musicals that scored awards. In the world of drama, winners included Kevin Spacey, Judi Dench and Patrick Stewart who won Best Solo Performance for A Christmas Carol.
