Wizz Air will begin a new service between the Polish city of Katowice and Glasgow Prestwick Airport this autumn.
From September 3rd, the airline will offer flights between the two cities three times a week. It will be the third Polish destination that Wizz Air offers from the Scottish airport and was decided on after the other routes proved popular.
"Poland has been an important market for us in recent years, with its popularity as a tourist destination growing all the time, so it's excellent news that Wizz have announced this new low cost service," explained Mark Rodwell, the chief executive of Glasgow Prestwick Airport.
"The inbound market has also been particularly strong, with thousands of Poles moving to Scotland to find work, and using our Polish services as a means of returning home to visit family and friends."
Natasa Kazmer, head of corporate communications and public affairs for Wizz Air, added: "We are delighted to extend our network and strengthen our partnership with Glasgow Prestwick Airport by operating another fantastic low cost service to Poland.
"Katowice is the capital of the booming region of Silesia with a lot of business opportunities as well as historical sites and beautiful nature.
While Krakow is just 45 minutes from Katowice, the city itself is also exciting and historic. One of its most famous attractions, Spodek, is a large UFO-shaped hall which is regularly used as a music venue.
