Ryanair adds two new bases

Low-cost carrier Ryanair has said that it will open two new bases in Europe and these new hubs will offer several flights to the UK.

The first new base will be situated in Valencia. Ryanair said that it would be investing over £70 million in two new Boeing 737-800 aircraft which will be based at the hub.

Ryanair already operates ten routes from Valencia, including services to London and East Midlands.

Now, 11 new routes will be introduced at the hub, including four flights a week to Liverpool's John Lennon Airport.

"Valencia has huge tourism potential and Ryanair's new routes will guarantee the lowest fares and the most on-time flights for visitors to this region," commented the airline's chief executive, Michael O'Leary.

Ryanair's other new base will be situated at Alicante. Another two new Boeing 737-800s will be used to introduce 11 new routes from this hub.

Currently, the airline has six routes from Alicante, including flights to Liverpool and London. In the future, it will add services to Doncaster and East Midlands airports.

Mr O'Leary commented: "We began operating from Alicante in March 07 and our low fare routes have already delivered huge passenger volumes for the Costa Blanca..

"Today's new base announcement will treble passenger numbers to 1.5 million annually, sustaining 1,500 local jobs."
