More people from the UK took holidays abroad last year, official figures show.
Data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that visits abroad by UK residents increased by two per cent over the 12 months to the end of June.
In total, Brits took 69.5 million trips abroad in the year - compared to 68.1 million in the previous 12 month period.
UK holidaymakers also appear to be taking more exotic trips as visits to countries excluding Europe and the US increased by nine per cent.
Similarly, the ONS figures show that more tourists are picking the UK for their holidays. Visits from overseas nationals to the UK increased from 30.8 million to 33.2 million over the year - a rise of eight per cent.
However, the data shows that British overseas travel could be slowing. The report notes: "During April to June 2007, the number of visits overseas by UK residents decreased by four per cent to 16.8 million when compared with the previous three months, while the associated spending decreased by four per cent to £8.7 billion."
Last week, Ryanair added two new European bases to its network, making it even easier for people from the UK to head off on holiday.
