Oneworld Boosts Global Network

Oneworld, the airline group comprising carriers such as British Airways, American Airlines and Qantas, has announced four new destinations and one new country in its global network.

The alliance, which already covers almost 700 airports in 150 territories, has added Kathmandu, Genoa, Santa Fe and Shanghai Hongqiao to its offering.

Dragonair, which joins oneworld on November 1st, will fly to Kathmandu from Hong Kong from December 2nd.

In Europe, the Italian destination of Genoa is to become more accessible with new services from both British Airways and Iberia, making it the 15th city in Italy to be served by oneworld carriers.

Iberia will begin its service from Madrid with daily flights from October 28th, while BA will commence its daily operations from Gatwick to Genoa on April 4th.

Japan Airlines will bring Hongqiao onto the oneworld map – the second Shanghai airport in the network – with flights from its Tokyo Haneda hub commencing on September 29th.

American Eagle, regional sister carrier of American Airlines, completes the changes, with new flights linking the New Mexico city of Santa Fe with Dallas Fort Worth and Los Angeles from December 13th.
