Bmi has announced forthcoming expansions in its transatlantic network.
UK airline bmi has announced it is to start operating five new American-bound services out of Heathrow next year.
As of March 30th 2008, new flights will be available to Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, San Francisco and Denver - all major American gateways - as part of a codeshare agreement with United Airlines.
Bmi also today launched a new daily service to Cairo, from where chief executive Nigel Turner commented on the expanded US routes.
Referring to the treaty recently signed between the US and EU, Mr Turner said: "We want to make the most of Open Skies and will expand our codeshare agreements on a range of other US domestic destinations."
United Airlines senior vice president, Michael Whitaker, also welcomed the new routes, saying: "This expanded partnership with bmi demonstrates how liberalisation of the Atlantic skies will benefit customers."
The Open Skies Agreement was reached on April 30th 2007 and aims to open up competition at major international airports such as Heathrow.
