Disney to help welcome visitors to US

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is to cooperate with the US government on an initiative to improve the welcome given to visitors to America.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has agreed a new partnership with the US government to launch a multimedia initiative to welcome tourists to North America.

The company enabled the use of its creative resources to design a seven-minute film and hundreds of still pictures to create a welcoming image of the United States to foreign visitors.

Images and video will be displayed at various international arrival points, ports and embassies, ensuring that travellers see them.

The creations will show a number of well-known American landmarks and include US citizens offering personal welcomes to visitors.

North America's government is reportedly looking to boost the number of overseas tourists coming to the US and dispel the idea that the country can sometimes be unwelcoming to foreigners.

Roger Dow, president of the Travel Industry Association of America, said: "This extraordinary initiative provides a snapshot of the faces and fabric of our nation and highlights our greatest asset for public diplomacy - our people.

"Through the film and images that Disney has donated, visitors will receive a first impression of our country's diversity and beauty and get a clear message that we want them to visit."
