Eastern launches first flights to Angers

Eastern Airways launched its first scheduled flight to France today.

Regional carrier Eastern Airways today launched its first scheduled flights to France.

The airline commenced a three-times-a-week service from Southampton to Angers Loire as part of its continuing expansion into Europe.

Flights depart the south coast every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and the airline claimed that these services will benefit both holidaymakers and business passengers.

Chris Holliday, the carrier's chief operating officer, described the occasion as a "historic day for Eastern Airways".

He added: "We introduced our first international route in 2005 from Southampton to Brussels and today marks the launch of our first French connection, also from the south coast of England.

"Angers is in the heart of the Loire Valley, and this service will not only appeal to holidaymakers, but also those travelling on business as the region is renowned for its wine production, truck manufacturing, liqueur, tourism and technology industries."

From Southampton, Eastern Airways also flies to Newcastle, Aberdeen, Leeds Bradford and Inverness.
