Eurostar bids farewell to Waterloo
Eurostar is preparing to say goodbye to Waterloo station, with its final service leaving this evening.
Rail operator Eurostar will bid farewell to Waterloo station this evening when its final service departs from the terminal.
After exactly 13 years at Waterloo, Eurostar will shift base overnight and commence operations from the updated St Pancras International on November 14th.
There have been a number of celebrations throughout the day to mark Eurostar's farewell to Waterloo, including live music and local dance and theatre group performances.
Richard Brown, chief executive of Eurostar, said: "We are celebrating 13 momentous years since the birth of Eurostar and I want to thank all those who have supported us, travelled with us and worked alongside us.
"We are hugely proud to have developed into the world's leading international train operator and pleased that the millions of travellers that we have brought through our terminal have also helped in the local regeneration of the Waterloo and South Bank areas."
Since it commenced operations from Waterloo on November 14th 1994, Eurostar has carried over 81 million passengers on more than 230,000 trains.
