Eurostar Easter bonus

Eurostar has announced record passenger bookings for this weekend, its first Easter based at the newly restored St Pancras International.

Over 160,000 travellers have booked tickets on the high-speed rail link that runs between St Pancras International, Ebbsfleet International, Ashford International, Paris, Brussels, Lille, Calais, Disneyland Resort Paris, Avignon and the French Alps.

Simon Montague, Director of Communications for Eurostar, said: “We’re really pleased that our fabulous new station, the UK’s first 186mph line and journeys of roundly two hours to the centre of Brussels and Paris are attracting record numbers of passengers..."

With demand up 20 per cent on the previous record, three extra Eurostar services have been laid on to provide 2,250 additional seats. One extra train from St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord will run today and two extra trains from Paris Gare du Nord will run, one today and one tomorrow.

Eurostar moved its London operations from Waterloo to St Pancras on 14 November 2007 offering a faster connection to Europe with the launch of High Speed 1, the UK's first 186 mph line. Ebbsfleet International in Kent was officially opened by Dame Kelly Holmes on 29 January 2008.
