Lufthansa, TAM confirm cooperation

Air services between Germany and Brazil are set for a boost as a result of an agreement between Lufthansa and TAM.

Lufthansa and TAM have signed a contract to begin a codesharing operation on national and international routes.

Customers with both airlines will be able to access their respective networks and also accumulate loyalty points on flights operated by either company.

TAM passengers will be able to buy tickets for Lufthansa's flights from Sao Paulo to Frankfurt or Munich and connect to other locations in Germany, such as Dusseldorf and Stuttgart, as well as Zurich and Geneva in Switzerland.

Lufthansa customers will be able to access connections in Brazil to Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Brasilia and others.

TAM, which claims to be the leading operator in the Brazilian domestic market, began its first flights to Frankfurt, its fourth European destination, on November 30th this year.

Lufthansa is Germany's largest airline, with over 50 million passengers a year travelling to more than 400 destinations in nearly 100 countries worldwide.
