Oman Air begins Muscat-London services

Oman Air has launched the first direct flights between Muscat and London Gatwick this week.

National carrier Oman Air has launched the first direct services from Muscat, the capital of Oman, and London Gatwick this week.

The flights, which last just over seven hours, will be available six times a week to economy, business and first-class travellers.

Passengers in business and first class will have access to "state-of-the-art" airport lounges at both Gatwick and Muscat airports.

Ziad Bin Karim Al Haremi, chief executive officer of Oman Air, said: "We have launched this route to cater for the increased demand from a diverse group of travellers.

"We look forward to welcoming both business and leisure passengers from London, which will lead to increased commerce and tourism between the UK and the Sultanate of Oman."

The chief executive explained that the new Gatwick route is part of an expansion programme designed to reinforce Oman Air's long-haul network.
