It's all going on in the West End this Christmas! 'Bond Noël' kicked off the Bond Street Christmas shopping yesterday, 22nd November. The event is quite a Christmas extravaganza - Bond Street is transformed into a positive winter wonderland with snow falling, gently falling, along the entire length of the street.
British author and model Sophie Dahl switched on the Christmas lights at 6.00pm on the corner of Burlington Gardens and Old Bond Street. At 6.30pm the children from the Westminster Abercorn School Choir performed.
At Covent Garden Market on Saturday, 8th December the 27th Great Christmas Pudding Race takes place. The event involves contestants wearing fancy dress in a dash around the Covent Garden piazza while trying to balance a Christmas pudding on a plate!
From December 10 to the 23rd (with the exception of Tuesday 11 December) Trafalgar Square will be setting the scene for Christmas as groups of Christmas carolers sing Christmas carols. The singers will be performing by the traditional Norwegian Christmas Tree - All funds are raised for voluntary or charitable organisations.
