Kensington Palace
Kensington Palace has been home to the Royals for over 300 years - the beautiful Palace is set within picturesque gardens and has been the favourite residence for successive sovereigns since 1760!
Kensington Palace offers an insight into the elegance of court life through the displays of the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection and the magnificent State Apartments. Kensington Palace opens its doors to visitors at the same time as being used by the Royal family as offices and private apartments. The rooms open to the public allow a glimpse into the decadent, elegant lifestyles of the succession of sovereigns who have presided here and inevitably left their mark.

The Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection
A stunning array of garments, dating from present day right back to the 18th century, are on display to see. Royal, Court and Ceremonial dress are presented including many pieces worn by members of the Royal family such as coronation robes, wedding dresses, baby clothes and many others worn on special occasions by princes and princesses.
The Victorian Rooms
These three rooms were rearranged by Queen Mary (wife to George V) in 1932-3 to recreate the appearance of the rooms in Princess Victoria's time. They are furnished with many items that belonged to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
The King's Apartments
A great deal of the original decoration is maintained throughout these rooms today. Paintings, embroideries, sculptures and tapestries adorn the walls, giving each room a unique and spectacular identity. See the William Kent ceiling painting in the King's Drawing Room, the Cupola Room where Queen Victoria was christened and the Mortlake tapestries, by the English tapestry workshop, in the Privy Chamber.
Included in admission until July 2007 is the exhibition Diana, Princess of Wales by Mario Testino, displaying for the first time together the famous photographs taken of the princess in 1997 with her designer evening dresses later sold at auction in New York.

Kensington Palace is closed during the Christmas season - 24th, 25th, 26th December and 1st January.

The nearest underground station to Kensington Palace is Queensway (Central Line), Bayswater (Circle/District Line) or High Street Kensington (Circle/District Line).
From Queensway tube station... turn right at the exit, cross the road and you will enter Kensington Gardens from the North side. Kensington Palace is to the West.
From Kensington Palace tube station... walk through the shopping centre, once on Kensington High Street turn right. Kensington Gardens are located to the left of Kensington High Street, once in the Gardens follow signs for Kensington Palace.
From Bayswater tube station.. exit to the right and walk uphill until you reach Queensway tube station. Cross the road and enter Kensington Gardens. Kensington Palace is situated to the West.
