The Building Design of the Noël Coward Theatre
The Noël Coward theatre is a Grade II listed building designed by WGR Sprague in 1903. Commissioned by Sir Charles Wyndham the theatre is classical in style with a Louis XVI auditorium, the colour scheme has retained its elegance over the years with a blend of cream, gold, damask and grey throughout the building.
In 1968 the theatre underwent a refurbishment, all of the behind the scenes equipment was updated and modernised. The fly towers were electrified and the dressing rooms, public facilities and safety curtain modernised. In 2006 the theatre again benefitted from a major refurbishment and is as beautiful today as it was in 1903.
