Summer Strallen

Sound of Music

Current Role

Summer Strallen is currently a regular character in C4's Hollyoaks . She plays the strong willed Summer Straw, a budding young starlet who will do whatever it takes to fulfil her dream of becoming famous.

If starring in a popular weekday soap wasn't enough, Summer was also in the middle of a "curious casting sequence of events" at the end of 2007. Hollyoak's cast and viewers were shocked to find out that Summer Strallen had been cast as Maria in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Sound Of Music in the West End and is due to take over from Connie Fisher in February. Since October 2007 Hollyoaks' viewers have been watching art imitate life as the character Summer Straw pursues her very own dream of starring in the West End.

Early Life

Summer was born in 1983 in Richmond, just outside of London. From a young age she had a passion for the arts and attended The Young Set, her grandmother's dance school. After graduating Summer went on to go to the Arts' Educational School and The Laine Theatre Arts College. Summer managed to land her first West End appearance aged just 16 in Cats.

It's no surprise that Summer Strallen has grown up to be a successful performer as her family members include many famous names from stage and screen. For example, her aunt is West End legend Bonnie Langford, her sister is current West End hot property Scarlett Strallen and her godfather is king of the jungle Christopher Biggins.

Career Highlights

23 year old Summer has appeared in a number of West End shows and pantomimes such as Cats, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Guys and Dolls, The Boyfriend, Dick Whittington and His Cat, A Midsummer's Night's Dream and most recently she starred in The Drowsy Chaperone alongside Elaine Paige. Summer was also the voice of Princess Lucy in animated children's television show The Big Knights.
