The Battle Of The Musicals Is On

Its the T-birds verses Joseph, the leather jackets verses the almighty Technicolor Dreamcoat, prepare to be sucked into the televisual battle of two amazing productions that will spill into the West End theatreland this summer.

grease

The gloves have come off and both Grease and Joseph are now well underway in the audition process with favorites being chosen, fights brewing between the judges, cringe worthy contestants and the laugh out loud moments that will stick our minds till the end of the show.

The ITV programme Grease is the Word only began on the 7th April but has already had a huge reaction with over 4 million people tuning in to see David Guest and his panel of judges sort through thousands of hopeful Danny and Sandys to find West End protégées. From David Ian's number one fan to a 90s pop singer trying to make a comeback, this first show was jam packed with excellent viewing. Amongst the weird and wonderful wannabe singers a few talented favorites stand out, keep an eye out for Jade from Essex and Vicky from Leicester as they are strong contenders for the role of Sandy. With many amusing characters and David Guest heading the panel of judges, "Grease Is The Word" is putting up a strong battle and is sure to guarantee more un-missable moments in futures shows.

It seems BBC's follow up to "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria" has been just as successful, the boys of Any Dream Will Do have trapped 6 million viewers and are keeping them hooked with their smooth singing voices and intense passion for the role of Joseph. It has been a tough and brutal selection process but Andrew Llyod Webber and his panel of theatre experts have whittled the Josephs down to just twelve men. Much like "Grease Is The Word", "Any Dream Will Do" has had it's share of amusing and strange contestants and favorite front runners - however their version of boot-camp has already passed. Joseph School saw the optimistic wannabe West End stars put through their paces, singing, dancing and acting and also saw many 'no-joes' sent home. Now the twelve finalists have to face a live audience, will the boys crack under pressure or rise to the challenge of a live showdown on national TV?

So both shows have been launched and both have secured a huge fan base, neck and neck in the popularity contest and producing some fine televisual moments. Stay tuned to see how the shows pan out and who will be West End stars this summer, you can book both Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoat theatre break from just £97pp and a Grease theatre break from just £111pp with Holiday Extras®.
