High School Musical

The London Hammersmith Apollo

"One of the capital's premier entertainment venues, the Hammersmith Apollo plays host to the first London run of Disney's High School Musical"

High School Musical at the Hammersmith Apollo
Since the movie was first screened on the Disney Channel in 2006, High School Musical has swept across the globe like no other television film in history. Capturing the imagination of youngsters from as far afield as the Philippines and Russia, High School Musical can truly claim to be a worldwide phenomenon. Focussing on the lives of two high school juniors from different social circles as they try out and then perform in the school play, this charming musical has been described as a gentle retelling of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Desperate not to bow to the peer pressure that tries to keep them apart, Troy Bolton the 'Jock' and Gabriella Montez the 'Brainiac' soon find that they are beginning to fall, not only for the love of performing for the school, but for each other too. Watch this joyous coming of age tale, peppered with memorable pop songs and dazzling set pieces, come to life at the London Hammersmith Apollo.
It has already caught the hearts of millions of fans from all over the world, now catch it live here! Book tickets through Holiday Extras® now and secure your place at one of the biggest theatrical events of the year.

The History of The Hammersmith Apollo
The Apollo first opened in 1932 as a cinema called the Gaumont Palace. With a capacity of three and a half thousand people, The Gaumont Palace was a successful movie house until 1962 when it was renamed the Hammersmith Odeon. The name 'Apollo' was not decided until 1993 when it played host to a sell-out tour by musical theatre legend Michael Ball.

Under its latest guise, The Hammersmith Apollo has been the home of some fantastic musicals like Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat. In line with this tradition, from the 30th June 2008 the Apollo will host the West End debut of High School Musical, one of the most hotly anticipated shows in theatrical history.
