Mary Poppins - The Musical

“ A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down.......”

Mary Poppins stories have delighted generations of both adults and children since the 1930's. Jane and Michael Banks need a nanny and one thing is certain that when Mary Poppins arrives at 17 Cherry Tree Lane, with her no-nonsense approach to making the right choices in life, nothing will ever be the same again. Presented by Cameron Mackintosh and Disney Theatrical Productions, this delightful stage show is based on P L Travers witty books and the magical Disney film.

Mary Poppins - The Story
Mary Poppins

Mr Banks is a stickler for discipline. Annoyed by the excessive turnover of nannies for his children, he places an ad in The Times for a 'no nonsense nanny'. The children wishing to help, write their own advert including their specifications for the perfect nanny. Mr Banks is not amused and tears up the children's advert. He leaves the paper to float away up the chimney.

Who should pluck the paper out of the sky but a certain Mary Poppins! Mary floats down and rescues the Bank family with her own brand of medicine (a spoon full of sugar) and adventures beyond our wildest dreams. The show features all the popular songs from the film including Chim Chim Cher-ee, A Spoonful of Sugar and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as well as new songs written by the Olivier award-winning George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.
