Deformed since birth, the Phantom lives in the sewers beneath the Paris Opera House. From his lair, the Phantom falls in love with the beautiful chorus singer Christine. The Phantom privately tutors Christine while terrifying the rest of the opera house, demanding that Christine is given all the lead roles. The problem is compounded when Christine meets up with a childhood acquaintance, Raoul, and the two fall in love. The Phantom kidnaps her and holds her with him. Raoul is the only one who can help, but does he succeed?
