Grease returns this Summer!
ITV's new talent show 'Grease is the Word' will start in April and heralds the return of the ever popular Grease to London's West End. Theatre producer David Ian, West End diva Sinitta and David Gest will choose from thousands of hopefuls competing for the lead roles of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski. The culmination of the show will be the premiere of Grease in the West End, set to take place in August.
Grease had it's world premiere on Broadway in 1972 and it's popularity has never since wavered. The hit film starring Olivia Newton John and John Travolta became the highest grossing musical film ever. The stage show has been a phenomenal hit around the world since it opened in 1972. Famous names that have appeared in show include John Travolta (as a 17 year old he played Doody, a geeky kid who idolises Danny), Richard Gere, Craig Maclachlan, Stacey Gregg, Elaine Paige and Shane Richie.
The passion, energy and fun that Grease encapsulates, together with killer songs and brilliant dance routines, make it one of the most popular musicals in the world. ITV's 'You're the one that I want' is sure to raise the show to new heights, as the nation is bound to be gripped by the search for unknown talent to take on the lead roles.

ITV's 'Grease is the Word ' starts on April 7th. There will be previews of the stage show at London's Piccadilly Theatre from 17th July, and it will open fully in the first week of August.
