Beginner windsurfing destinations

Learning how to windsurf is great fun providing you have good instruction, the right equipment and ideal conditions.

Many destinations around the world are perfect for learning to windsurf providing you pick the right time of year and the right windsurf centre.

There are many windsurf schools in the UK, but poor or inconsistent weather conditions and the cold water leave many people seeking alternatives. Beginner windsurfers should look for gentle onshore or side shore winds with flat and shallow water.

The Aegean Sea, with its many islands and deep bays, has numerous places that are ideal for learners. Rhodes, Cyprus, Kos and Karpathos are just a few. It is advisable to go during the summer months.

Although the Red Sea is famous for its scuba diving, it also has fantastic locations for windsurfers. Hurgada, Safaga, Dahab and Ras Sudr have great learning conditions and many good international schools.
