Andy is Holiday Extras Chief Technology Officer, joining the business in August 2016.
A self-confessed technology geek; I've built a career around a constant desire to learn how best to utilise technology that adds value to people's lives - and I'm excited to continue this at Holiday Extras. Starting from the humble days of founding my local football team's (Scunthorpe United!!) first ever official website (back before most people knew what a website was), I've worked in a range of industries and have extensive experience building software used by major organisations such as SkyBet, William Hill, Google, HP, Fujitsu, News International, The Cabinet Office, Chevron, Boots and Microsoft. An entrepreneur at heart, I've has also had fun (and stress!!!) founding a number of technology-driven ventures. I'm passionate about building customer centric World-class businesses that are underpinned by best-in-class technology.
I'm responsible for all things technology within the Holiday Extras Group, and there is a LOT of technology to keep us busy. I'm privileged to have an amazingly highly skilled technology team of more than 100 people, not just in Kent but dotted geographically across the globe. We are a very remote friendly business and we have a number of remote workers across the UK as well as further afield. We also have a growing engineering team in Sofia, Bulgaria.
I joined Holiday Extras from Quill Content, a digital content production business where I was CTO and responsible for Product and Technology. Prior to this, I was in a world of sports as Group CTO of Sporting Index the market leading sports spread betting business. I've always optimised for learning opportunity so far in my career and my choice to join Holiday Extras was no different.
Outside of Holiday Extras, my time is spent enjoying life with my wife Katie, and my wonderful and energetic daughters Sienna and Esme, and of course Frankie our pug. As part of joining Holiday Extras we also became residents of Kent, living at the foot of the beautiful North Downs. When not enjoying the Kent countryside, beaches or amazing pubs I like to relax by running (or perhaps more accurately jogging) or indulging in 18 holes of fun but usually somewhat frustrating golf.
For me a sunny location with plenty of amazing golf courses and beaches tick the boxes. I'm looking for an early flight out, Meet and Greet parking to make travel better and 10 days of fun which includes unforgettable pockets of happiness with family and friends.
Having been a founder previously, I have utmost respect for Gerry (Pack), and more recently Matthew for what they've built with Holiday Extras, founding and running a business is, without doubt, one of the toughest jobs you can have so being part of this business and seeing what it has become is a big inspiration. Further afield, I've always been inspired by the constant technology innovation in Silicon Valley and can be often found reading the biographies of Valley luminaries to help shape my thinking.
