Aberdeen Airport conducts annual noise monitoring.

Aberdeen Airport conducted a four-day noise monitoring operation after reaching a planning agreement with Aberdeen City Council which will allow 24-hour operations.

The agreement, reached in March 2005, granted the airport permission for fixed-wing flights to take off and land at the airport at any time. One stipulation for the agreement was that Aberdeen Airport conducted annual ambient noise monitoring.

The operation involved the monitoring of the surrounding areas of Gilbert Road, Bucksburn; Greenburn Road, Bucksburn; Cordyce View, Dyce; Union Row, Dyce; Dyce Drive, Overton and Newton Farm, Kirkhill.

Stuart Torpey, Aberdeen Airport's environment manager, said: "We are committed to ensuring our environmental impacts are monitored across the airport site, and through the annual noise monitoring exercise combined with other environmental monitoring regimes allow us to identify and target areas for improvement."

For travellers flying from Aberdeen Airport, there is the opportunity to begin their break with an overnight stay at the Aberdeen Thistle Hotel. Enjoying an on-airport setting and offering a variety of leisure facilities, this 4-star hotel is ideal for a relaxing overnight stay before flying.
