Preparations for Birmingham International Airport's 70th anniversary began in earnest on July 9, 2008, with staff members past and present joining together with local residents to recount its eventful history.
More than 80 people attended the morning coffee event at Marston Green Village Hall, sharing valued memories of times past that will feature in the forthcoming written history.
John Morris, Head of Corporate and Community Affairs, said: "As we start to prepare for the airport's 70th anniversary next year, we were eager to hold a community event where local residents could share their stories and memories. We were delighted to see so many people brave the weather and come out to see us and I'm sure the result will be a history that provides an intriguing insight into the airport down the years."
