If you want to get your holiday started a little bit early, this welcoming pub is a great place to settle in for a drink or two – either in one of the cosy booths or at one of the numerous tables. All the usual entertainments of the traditional British pub are here and all the drinks you would expect to find are served, from draught lager to house red and white wine. Between 5.30 and 6.30pm and 9.30 and 10.30pm it’s happy hour, when drinks prices drop to well below £3 for draught beers such as Grolsch and Carling and branded spirits such as Gordon’s gin and Smirnoff vodka (though mixers are not included).

The Palm Bar is a relaxed place for a drink and the atmosphere is lively yet laidback, punctuated by the trickle of the waterfall which divides the lobby from the deli and bar area. During the day the area is flooded with natural light, while at night it’s a warm and friendly place for a drink – and because it’s open 24 hours a day, you can take that nightcap whenever you’re ready. Whatever your tipple of choice you’re sure to find it here – from bottled beers to port and sherry. There’s a particularly strong selection of whiskeys and bourbons.
