You won't have to go the extra mile

The Gatwick Holiday Inn Express may not be right on site at the airport, but it has plenty of straightforward travel options to get you there. Being in the centre of Crawley, it also has plenty of conveniences around and is easy to get to from the M23. No airport noise, but you're not stranded, it's the perfect location.

If you’re arriving by car: Leave the M23 at junction 10 and take the A2011 Crawley Avenue signposted Crawley. At the large roundabout, take the first exit onto Hazelwick Avenue and follow signs for Three Bridges station; continue past the Crawley Tennis Club to the end of this road. At the traffic lights, turn right onto Hazlett Avenue East, passing Vines Garage on your left. The hotel is situated in the centre of the "Squareabout" – follow the one-way system around to find the car park entrance. The Holiday Inn Express has free parking on site.

If you’re coming by public transport: The number 20 bus runs between the stop right outside the Holiday Inn Express and Gatwick's South terminal. At off-peak times, the bus ride takes 13 minutes and costs £1.80 – journey times may be longer during rush hour, so plan ahead. A taxi all the way to and from Gatwick South terminal costs £10.50 and takes 12 minutes off-peak (expect longer journey times at rush hour). A taxi to the North terminal costs £8.50.

The Holiday Inn Express is an easy 10-minute walk from Three Bridges station straight up Haslett Avenue – just turn left out of the station and continue until you see the hotel on your left. Alternatively, if you don't fancy hefting all your luggage with you, the following local buses from the station stop directly outside the hotel: 4, 5, 82, 84, 91, 100, 272, 281, 291 and 400. There are 10 buses an hour between 9am and 5pm; in the early morning and evening there are around four an hour with services ending at 9pm. Buses leave from Bus Stop A outside the station.

Alternatively, a taxi from Three Bridges station to the hotel costs £3.40 and takes five minutes. There's a taxi booking office on the right-hand side as you exit the station, and a taxi stand by the bus stop on the left.

From Crawley station, it's a 12-minute walk – turn right out of the station and walk to the main road, then cross and follow signs for Three Bridges. Buses 4, 5, 82, 84, 91, 100, 272, 281, 291 and 400 towards Three Bridges pass the Holiday Inn Express – the trip takes five minutes and the stop is directly opposite the hotel. There are around ten buses an hour in the daytime, but fewer in the evenings. A taxi ride takes six minutes and costs £4.

From the airport: If you're arriving at the South terminal, it's easy to catch a train from the station to either Crawley or Three Bridges and continue as above. If you're arriving at the North terminal, take the free monorail shuttle to the South terminal and train station.
