Mercure Leeds Parkway

A room with a view

The Mercure has 118 rooms and about a quarter have been renovated in the past year. Most of the rooms have balconies, or patio doors if they're on the ground-floor, so you get your own little bit of outdoor space to enjoy the fresh northern air.

All rooms have double glazing, internet access, satellite TV with pay-per-view movies, a radio and music - there are albums you can listen to for a small fee. There's also a hairdryer, a desk, reading lights by the bed, an iron and ironing board, tea and coffee, a wardrobe, a trouser press and two phones. The hotel has wifi in the communal areas, but in the rooms it's wired access only. The connection can be a bit tricky, but we got the hang of it pretty quickly.

All rooms have an en-suite bathroom with toiletries and, in most cases, a bath as well as a shower. Most also have heated mirrors, which don't steam up. The three disabled rooms all have handrails in the bathroom, and one has a wet room. Not all the rooms can be reached from the lift, but the disabled-access rooms can be. There's also a ramp outside the front entrance, disabled parking spaces and the hotel allows guide dogs.
