Simple food to keep your kids happy
There's no formal restaurant at the Holiday Inn Express Liverpool airport, but the lounge in the lobby serves both a buffet breakfast and evening meals. The lounge isn't fancy, but it's an informal, pleasant place to sit comfortably and grab a bite to eat.
All your kids' favourites
- Breakfast: 4am to 10am
- Dinner: 6pm to 10pm
Options from the lounge's bar menu include simple favourites like pizza, burgers and fish and chips, especially good for kids. The food is basic, no frills stuff, but perfectly serviceable. At around £9 per dish, it isn't cheap, but for airport food, that's still fairly reasonable.
If you'd prefer something fancier, there's a Dobbie's garden centre next to the hotel, which, as standard, has a pleasant, upmarket bistro restaurant and plenty to keep you busy. With John Lennon being a small, out of the way airport, it's nice not to feel stranded.
Breakfast at the Express is, again, basic, but also free to all guests. There's a hot buffet with scrambled eggs, beans and sausages, which isn't something you'll find for free at many hotels. Otherwise, all the regular continental options are present and accounted for, from cereals, yoghurts, fruit, muffins, pastries, bread and a conveyor-belt toaster. To wash that down, there are coffee machines that provide hot water for tea and a few types of juice.
At weekends, the breakfast buffet gets busy. If you show up between 4am and 7am, you should be fine, but it gets crowded from there on, with the most popular time being from 9am.
The hotel doesn't offer a room service. You are welcome to take food from the bar up to your room.
Information regarding travel was helpful. Transfer to hotel was straightforward. Room was very nice, although heating was a little noisy. Staff at hotel very helpful.Mrs Wilkinson (Liverpool Holiday Inn Express with breakfast)

Parked and stayed in late November. Parking was easy and fully automated but Staff were on hand if needed. The Holiday Inn Express is convenient for the airport and offered a good breakfast.Mr Key (Liverpool Holiday Inn Express with breakfast)
Hotel was as described and transport from air parks to hotel went ok. Put disabled badge in car and advised staff of this. Assured car would be close to collection desk on our return. However when car key collected on return, car was as far away from office as it was possible for it to be despite car key ticket having written comment for car to be as close as possible to collection point. Not impressed. Won't use air parks again.Mr Horsley (Liverpool Holiday Inn Express with breakfast)
