Simply spacious

Rooms at the Liverpool Holiday Inn Express have plenty of space to fit your family in. For a good-value airport hotel, you expect the rooms to be a little cramped, but you’ll find them spacious and nicely decorated in red with subdued artwork on the walls. A family room will feature two double beds and a double sofa bed, but the sofa bed is only really suitable for children under 12. Like all Holiday Inn Expresses, the rooms offer you a choice of firm and soft pillows and a money-back satisfaction guarantee.

All rooms come with a flatscreen TV with freeview channels on a workspace with a lamp and power sockets. There are lamps built into the soft, comfy bed and a bedside table to keep your holiday reads on. There’s an open wardrobe with enough shelving and hangers to store your belongings, but not too many nooks and crannies, so it will be hard to leave things behind. Near the wardrobe you’ll find spare towels and pillows, a hair dryer and a full length mirror, along with a neat tray with a kettle built in, with a couple of tea bags and sachets of coffee. There’s a bit of a shortage of power sockets, but you should be able to get by with two or three.

The en suites are simple, but nicely layed out and immaculate. There’s a good-sized power shower, with large bottles of handwash and shampoo/shower gel attached to the wall. Of course, this means you won’t be going home with any new toiletries, but you can also be a bit more generous with your soap portions. There’s a nifty feature that means the en suite door swings around to become a door to the toilet so you can separate it off from the rest of the en suite.

The Express offers both double and twin rooms, each with a comfy, stylish couch that folds out into a makeshift bed. It’s not too hard to set up on your own, but the hotel doesn’t recommend it for anyone over the age of 12.

The hotel has a few rooms adapted for disabled guests. Particular attention has been paid to the rooms and they have more than just the usual hand rail. They have less furniture to make space for a wheelchair, but the real difference is in the en suite. The bathroom is much larger than the average and has a wet room shower with a folding shower seat. There are railings all around and a lowered sink. The bathroom door opens outwards for safety as well.
