More than a million customers saved £100 by booking their airport parking with Holiday Extras
Almost 1 in 5 UK travellers say they still pay for their airport parking on the day! But more than a million UK holidaymakers saved £100 by pre-booking their parking with us.
More than 4,000 members of the public took part in our poll*, of whom a fifth (19 per cent) admitted to purchasing their airport parking on the day. Almost a third (29 per cent) claimed that the price of airport parking is "pretty much the same" whether booked in advance or not.
However, in reality, more than a million airport parking customers who pre-booked with us in 2019 saved an average of £100 each - that's a third of our customers saving £100 on the price they'd have paid for airport parking on the day.
Book your holiday extras early.
It pays to book your airport parking, airport hotel or your lounge as soon as you book your flights. Prices usually go up nearer the date you fly, and last year Holiday Extras saved our airport parking customers £100 each on average when they pre-booked their airport parking instead of paying on the day.
Aside from the misbelief in the price being "pretty much the same" for paying the drive-up rate, the most common reason for paying for airport parking on the day was because travellers made, or changed, their flight plans at the last minute. Two per cent claimed they never get around to pre-booking; a further one per cent said parking was arranged by their company; and 19 survey respondents said they pay on the day because "I have so much money I don't care what it costs"!

**Based on analysis of 3.2 million Holiday Extras airport parking customers in 2019 who booked an airport parking product which advertises a gate rate, comparing the price each customer paid for their parking through us to either the gate rate for that car park, where a gate rate is available, or if a gate rate is not available for that car park the cheapest gate rate available at the same airport. Data calculated 1st Jan to 10th Dec 2019.
