This pyramid structure was named for the Mayan snake god, and if you happen to be at the site on the Spring or Autumn Equinox, you'll see why. On thee days, the afternoon sun casts a curious shadow on the sides of the grand stairs of the structure, one which resembles a slithering snake. The site gets busy around these events, but it is a truly incredible thing to witness.
