UK Hiltons awarded Carbon Saver Gold Standard

Hilton Worldwide has just been awarded the Carbon Saver Gold Standard for its commitment to reducing carbon emissions.

To achieve the recognition, the hotel brand had to demonstrate three years’ worth of energy reductions and provide evidence of sustainability strategies being undertaken within its UK properties.

Hilton uses a sustainability measurement system called LightStay to analyse its operations, which includes housekeeping, paper product usage, food waste, chemical storage, air quality and transportation.

Darren Cook, senior director of engineering operations, Hilton Worldwide, Europe, said: “Achieving the Carbon Saver Gold Standard accreditation across all our UK properties is fantastic news and demonstrates the real commitment from Hilton Worldwide to continually reduce our impact on the environment. We are very proud of the industry-leading work we are doing in this area and it’s gratifying to see the hard work of our team members recognized in this way.”
