Detox zone helps airline passengers relax

Low cost airline bmibaby is trialling a new onboard detox service to help passengers relax during their flight.

The new detox zone on selected flights will offer free massages and life coaching and may appeal to nervous flyers. Onboard masseuses will offer hand and head massages to de-stress passengers at the start of their holiday.

“The onboard detox zone will give passengers the chance to start their trip feeling relaxed and ready to reap the benefits of a break away. Then when they reach their destination the detox can continue, whether it is through gaining essential vitamins from the winter sunshine or by kick starting an exercise plan with a ski break,” suggests bmibaby managing director, Crawford Rix.

Also onboard will be a life coach who will help passengers achieve their goals in 2009. “The new year is a time when people often make resolutions. Our resolution is to help our customers detox by providing low cost flights to attractive destinations,” says Rix.

bmibaby says it offers a number of ways to make flying as stress free as possible, including executive airport lounges for passengers to relax in before their flight and online check in so passengers can avoid airport queues.

As part of its new year resolution, bmibaby is introducing two new flights from Cardiff airport. New flights to Menorca will operate from Cardiff on Thursdays and Sundays from May 21st until October 22nd.

Menorca is not currently served by any other low cost airline from Cardiff, and as the quietest of the three main Balearic islands is suitable for a family holiday or weekend break.

New flights to Almeria in Spain will operate from Cardiff airport between May 22nd and October 22nd on Mondays and Fridays. Prices with bmibaby start from £41.99 one way including taxes and charges.

“Almeria is the next Spanish hotspot and is currently experiencing rapid growth, fuelled by holiday home owners and by travellers wishing to discover the more authentic Spain unspoilt by mass tourism,” comments Rix.

bmibaby is replacing two city routes, to Amsterdam and Glasgow, with the service to Almeria to meet the demand for more flights to the Mediterranean from Cardiff.
