Download Festival returns to Donington

Join The Prodigy, Korn and more

June 1, 2009

Music festival

For the seventh successive year, the increasingly popular Download Festival is returning to Donington Park with a number of international acts set to perform.

The three day festival took its place as an annual event in 2003, replacing previously successful festivals held at the site, including the Monsters of Rock (1980-1996) and Ozzfest (2002).

The growing popularity of the event has seen it rival more-established festivals - such as Reading and Glastonbury - in attracting the biggest and best bands in the world. Indeed, with its emphasis on heavier rock music, the festival provides a suitable platform for acts that would've perhaps been snubbed by the more mainstream events.

The 2009 event, taking place on June 12-14, 2009, features another line-up of acts to whet the appetite of fans. Among those scheduled to perform over the three days are:

  • • Faith No More
  • • Korn
  • • Slipknot
  • • Marilyn Manson
  • • The Prodigy
  • • Def Leppard
  • • Trivium

Donington Park enjoys a location close to Castle Donington in Leicestershire. From 2010, the Donington Park circuit will also be the home of the Formula One British Grand Prix.
